Thirty Days

I thought it would be appropriate to post a blog in commemoration to the thirty days we have left until the wedding. I love Allison now more than ever and am super excited. Only one month to go. So, i'm going to test to see how often she actually reads this thing by letting you all (and her if she reads it) have the chance to find out what I have gotten Allison for a wedding day gift. The gift comes in three sections. I'm only going to let you know 1/3 of what that may be.

Here it is...

Two extra large beach towels with her/our monogram on them. These say "James", ours will have AFD or our names monogrammed where "James" is.

I love you Allison, but do not think you will look here, that's why I posted it.

forty days and counting

yesterday was a busy day...

Not only was it graduate recognition day at both NGBC and FHBC, but last night was my licensing service where my church agrees that I am called to ministry, exciting! And not only did yesterday mark only 41 days left until marriage, it was the one year anniversary of our deciding to court and see if we were compatible for marriage. One year later and we are only 40 days away from doing that very thing. I know I have not written since 60 days and am terribly sorry. As you can probably imagine, life has been extremely busy. We are mailing invitations today so we've been spending the last few days doing that. The house is no where near ready to live in so every moment I have to spare is being spent working on the house.
But I must say that I am more in love with Allison today than yesterday and cannot wait until we are married and beginning our lives together. I know she is equally excited. Some people say that the 30 day mark before is where we will see some of the arguments begin to arise due to stress. I hope not but I am ready to communicate and glorify Christ above our desires.

On another note, we have decided on our honeymoon destinations. Thanks to Allison's aunts and uncles, we are going to the Bahamas on a cruise with Carnival Cruise Lines, on the Sensation. We are super stoked and grateful. We get back early on Thursday and will be near Disney World and have decided to go Thursday and Friday there! I LOVE Disney!!!

All in all we are excited and hope that you will join us in the embarkment of our life together on June 30th, 2007 at 2:30 pm.

Thirty times two

There are only sixty more days left until I will be a married man. As the day approaches (very quickly) we grow more anxious. It is a very exciting time as you may be able to imagine. Stress is also setting in. We still have quite a bit to do to the house, but this is not where the stress lies. The details of the ceremony have proven to be stressful though neither of us has an idea of what exactly we want. Perhaps that's the cause of the stress. We think we're just going to put it into the hands of the florist and the caterer to take care of their stuff and I believe Kim Messer is going to help with some ideas. There are just a lot of things to think about. Also, in trying to know what to do with bringing all of our existing stuff together has been thought provoking to say the least. Things like bank accounts, cell phones, health insurance, etc...

On another note, we have received many of our gifts already, which is so exciting. Allison had her first shower given by the ladies at work, who have a huge regard for Allison. We received some very nice things and we are very gracious. I would go into detail but i'm a guy and I do not know the details...sorry. We also had our shower given by NGBC and I was blown away by the great gifts we received. My church home is so dear to me and I appreciate each thoughtful gift given. I am sure Allison will grow as fond of this church as I am. I know that they all have welcomed her as one of us.

I wish I could write more, but I must get to work.

In Christ Alone,

Derrick
