Revisiting the Engagement 70 days until the wedding

This can also be read on our wedding website

Our Engagement

You may have already heard the story or may have not had that pleasure yet, this is the beautiful story of love and devotion that is our engagement.

The story began in my mind quite a time before the event took place but lets go to Thursday, December 14th. I take my third hour trip to a small Jewelry store in Newnan, Ga. At Morgan Jewelers, Jeff Morgan was kind and oh so helpful. This time I was picking up the beautiful diamond ring that Allison had picked out at another Jewelry store. She had no idea that Newnan was my destiny that night and that my heart was devoted to asking for her hand in Marriage twenty four hours from that time.

The diamond ring was magnificent, I could not wait to slip it onto her finger.

Fastforward to the next night after a grueling day of having the diamond and thinking in my mind, hoping that night would be perfect. She was radiant that night, she's always gorgeous, but that night I saw her anew, she would become my wife to be that night, my fiance. We drove to Canoe, located in Vinings, Ga. It however was not quite that easy to find right away, we got lost...but finally found it, only a few minutes late.

The following was set up by me but I will try and write it from her perspective as she did not expect what was coming.

We had my car vallet parked and enter the rustic yet elegant Canoe only to find our table was not ready. The hostess asked if we would like to go out into the garden located along the Chattahoochee River, we agreed. After asking how to get there we entered the garden, an open area with a rocked walkway. The air was chilly but at five thirty this day the sun was just going down providing enough sunlight to keep us warm enough. Also located in this courtyard of sorts were three things, two large party tents being prepared; one to the right and one to the left, the third thing was a small table covered with a white linen table cloth with a candle and a folded pice of paper with RESERVED typed on it. "I wonder what that table is for" I say. We continued walking and pass the table. I say, "I have to confess, that table is reserved for us, you wanna sit for a minute?" We went and sat and I try to muster up some explanation and say that "I set this up because I wanted to be outside when I asked you this question."

You are here today because you know the question I asked and her answer. She says that the proposal was perfect and that the night was wonderful. I agree that it was wonderful, it is a day that I will always remember. We went in and ate an amazing meal! And continued on to The Fabulous Fox and saw The Nutcracker. The night was truly amazing but my favorite part was hearing her call everyone afterwards and telling the story in her words with the excitement. I am truly preparing to be with the one that God had for me all along. My heart jumps each time I see her and I cannot wait for the day we're married!
