I am back. We had an excellent time on the slopes and I specifically had a great time with my beautiful bride to be. Hopefully all the cool kids @ FHBC think i'm cool enough to marry Allison.
That brings me to this next topic, maybe some of you guys from FHBC will read this and hopefully it will help explain some stuff. Allison is going to start coming to NGBC every other week on Wednesdays and once a month on Sundays or some semblance of the two. I know that this was discussed among some folks Wednesday night and pretty difficult to palate, or handle. I am so sorry and want each person to understand why this needs to happen now instead of closer to the wedding. This was our decision per my request. So, any anger and resentment should be directed toward me. I do, however, hope to explain to you in a way that will show that there should be no anger and resentment.
Allison has been used mightily:

I hope that you know that I know that Allison has been used greatly by the Lord. I saw this for sure on the Ski trip! Not only is Allison your friend but she is someone to whom you can look up. And she is someone to whom you can look for wisdom and guidance. I do not want to take that away. But I do have to admit that I have been jealous of you for the girls of NGBC, I know that Allison's wisdom and consistent love for Christ is a desperate need that our girls have too. I wanted to state that before I continued in my explanation.
Allison was called to FHBC:
Church is more than Sunday and Wednesday (and if you're like me, everyday of the week). The Church is a daily, moment by moment thing made up only of followers of Christ. You say, "yeah Derrick, duh, we know that!!!" Yes I know, but I have to point that out before I point out that Allison is more than just someone you go to church with, she was called there by God to do what she has been doing faithfully. She has diligently followed the call of God on her life. It has been more than just cool things for her to do, though she does enjoy them. She heard the call of God and prayed and followed His lead.
I have done the same thing. I am not just at NGBC because I grew up there. The Lord has called me to NGBC, it is His desire for me to be there.
Even if you do not know it, you have been called to serve God at your church, its not all about what you can get and how much fun you can have, it is about God's call to "Go and make Disciples...(Matt.28:19-20)."
Allison is now called to NGBC:
As hard as it is to try and understand this and adhere to it, as my wife-to-be, Allison is now called to New Georgia. She knows that she is to now serve NGBC with the same diligence and faithfulness as FHBC. Her move to New Georgia is God's move, not mine, and not even hers.
There must be a period of transition:
In order to honor God the best we can, we have discussed that there must be a period of transition. This transition will serve as a bridge to bring closure to one chapter of her life and a respect and trust built up for the new chapter. This is what we believe will honor God the most. Would you help encourage Allison and I (especially her) during this time? As you can imagine, her desire is to be in both places at both times. FHBC has been Allison's only church home and it is hard for her to begin anew also. You would serve her greatly by understanding the need for this to happen and it would encourage her and perhaps make it less difficult for her.
I am so thankful for the ministry Allison has had at FHBC, had it not been for that, i'm not sure she would be my fiance. I was looking for someone who valued God's people as highly as I did. God gave me someone who valued it more.
In Christ Alone,
Derrick
